doctorgingerspiceYeah, Will had seen the invitations around town to Dr. Lecter's dinner tonight and the man had seemed nice enough when they'd met on Will's first day here, he was sure he would be welcome, but at the same time, he just- couldn't bring himself to go. It didn't seem right.
Thanksgiving was about family, and Will was still feeling the sting of being forcefully uprooted from his. He and Natalie should've been hosting their first Thanksgiving together as a married couple, and instead he was hundreds of miles away. Not to mention, this was his and Jay's first Thanksgiving since their dad died (not that the three of them had ever been that great about getting together to celebrate, but it was the principle of the thing).
All in all, he just wasn't up to a big event with a lot of people, all of whom were still basically strangers.
He sighed, staring down at Jay's contact info currently pulled up on his phone and then took a deep breath and pressed the call button.
Voicemail. Will's heart sunk in disappointment at not actually getting to talk to Jay, though even hearing his brother's voice over the recording was... something, at least.
"Hey, Jay? It's me. I know I'm not really supposed to call or anything, but it's just- it's Thanksgiving, and I miss you. Just wanted to hear your voice, I guess, reassure myself that you're still out there, that I'll still have people to come back to when this- when this is all over. That's all. Bye."
He disconnected the call and threw the phone across the room towards an armchair in frustration.
Ugh. Why was his life such a goddamn mess?
